Affiliate Networks and Your Sender Reputation

Affiliate Networks and Your Sender Reputation

When we are referring to affiliate networks, we’re talking about networks like Clickbank, JVZoo, etc.

The long and the short of these networks is that the ISPs GENERALLY don’t like them and if you’re doing a significant amount of mailing to offers within these networks, there’s a good chance that you’re going to tarnish your sender reputation.

Why?

That’s a fair question since you are more than likely sending to legitimate offers that your list wants to see, right? Unfortunately, these sites have developed a reputation for being tied to spammers. You see, spammers will buy a list or acquire a list in another manner and start sending offer after offer to affiliate network sites.

In addition, in the past, some of the affiliate network sites have been used by unscrupulous marketers to “hide” behind in order to avoid using their real information and/or unable or unwilling to get a direct merchant account.

Regardless of “why” these networks have established poor reputations, it’s important to know that if you’re sending traffic to offers hosted on these sites or similar, there’s a good chance your email campaigns are going to suffer in the long run.

The solution: It’s not enough to use a link cloaked or redirect. If there is truly an offer you believe in and want to promote, then it is worth spending some extra time and sending your subscribers to a presell page that explains why you’re giving them the offer, a testimonial or personal endorsement, etc.
